As a result of the pressure to reduce the environmental burden in the foundry industry, resulting from the upcoming stricter standards from 2030, see Decree No. 273/2021 Coll., Annex 4, letter E, which prohibits landfilling of waste from 2030. Also, the currently higher financial costs of landfilling waste from the production of castings, such as mould residues, cores and swarf, are putting pressure on competitiveness in the global world market. These significant costs associated with foundry production are not addressed to such an extent by our Asian, but also Turkish competitors and thus do not affect the price of their castings.
Therefore, in 2023, SECO INDUSTRIES, Castings and Inserts Division is focusing intensively on improving the recovery and consumption efficiency of the uniform bentonite mixture and other additives required for our ductile iron casting and inserts production technology. As a result, SECO INDUSTRIES‘ team of experts has achieved up to a 60 % year-on-year reduction in waste sand and dust generated by the casting production process. We will continue this process of improved recovery.
