In our foundry Seco Industries we focus on production of small ductile iron castings of up to 1 kg in series of several thousand pieces. Production of theese pieces with quality required by the automotive industry means mastering finishing small surfaces of castings from remains of bentonite mixture after casting.
An important indicator of quality of the blasting medium is its service life and the time intended for blasting to the desired surface quality.
To improve the surface quality of castings after casting from the DISAMATIC molding line, we use a blasting medium from Eisenwerk Würth GmbH to blast the surfaces. More specifically the STEEL SHOT VERA material with an abrasive particle size of 0.6 – 1.0 mm. Thanks to this combination, we also managed to reduce the material consumption and at the same time reduce the maintenance costs of the blasters.
A wide product portfolio means a range of demands on the abrasive medium in terms of blasting efficiency. After long-term tests, we have found that this abrasive is universal for a variety of surfaces and as a result achieves the required surface quality of castings.
Blasting is so effective that it allows the carbon content of the molding mixture to be reduced, thus reducing the carbon footprint of the foundry.
Therefore, after long-term tests, the material from Eisenwerk Würth GmbH has proven itself.
