Thermal analysis is measured with an instrument consisting of a stand, a transducer, and a computer. To obtain results of the thermal analysis, a program for evaluating the cooling curves is used. The whole process of testing the thermal analysis begins by pouring liquid metal into a crucible placed on a stand, where the sample gradually cools and solidifies. The metal temperature values are sent to the computer via a converter as a function of time. The result is a graph that is derived twice, and the program calculates the values. Thanks to the obtained values, we can evaluate the chemical composition of the metal, the distance of the alloy from the eutectic point, the graphitization ability, and the quality of inoculation.
Seco Industries performs thermal analysis with a focus on castings to ensure the highest possible quality for its customers.
Thermal analysis is the only tool that can evaluate the complete quality of cast iron. From the batch material, the melting process, the chemical composition to the modification and inoculation. The process of modification and inoculation is the most important process in the production of cast iron with spheroidal graphite in thermal analysis. We adjust the chemical composition of the given material by means of thermal analysis so that it is at the eutectic point, where the alloy always has the best foundry properties.
Thermal analysis provides
increases health of the casting, allows us to optimize the amount of inoculant and tune the chemical composition on all our materials. We use it to set up, optimize and control the entire process. During material tests, thermal analysis gives us an immediate idea of the effect of new material on the final product and thus speeds up the test. It is always best to have one tool in hand that evaluates all the effects on the process and demonstrably gives us the result of quality.
